Globalping's review of 2024 and plans for 2025
As we approach the end of 2024, it's time to look back, celebrate our achievements, and look ahead to the future. Globalping has had a great year: we reached big milestones, launched new features, and received invaluable support from our amazing community.
In this blog post, we'll revisit Globalping's highlights of 2024 and share some exciting insights into what's to come in 2025.
2024 in review: what a year!
This year has been phenomenal for Globalping, and we have implemented many improvements, features, and milestones, greatly helping the platform grow. Let's break it down:
The year in numbers
- 150+ GitHub issues closed across all Globalping repositories
- 1.4 million measurements per day at peak
- 1380 online probes reached
- 300 hardware probes distributed to tech enthusiasts at conferences, as online giveaways, and to GitHub sponsors
Biggest milestones and feature launches
- Reuse probes from previous measurements: Previously, even if you provided the same location data for multiple tests, there was no guarantee that the Globalping API would pick the same probes each time. With this feature, you can reuse probes, getting more reliable and consistent data for troubleshooting and analyzing networks.
- Infinite ping: Our CLI and web tools now support infinite (continuous) ping, allowing it to run until you stop it and providing you with a constant stream of data.
- Globalping website and blog: As Globalping grows steadily, we decided to split the platform from jsDelivr and make it a standalone service. For this, we created a new website and blog where you can find everything related to Globalping.
- Globalping Dashboard: One of the biggest milestones was the dashboard launch, which will receive many great features in the coming years. Currently, you can use it to adopt and manage probes, increase API limits by authenticating your measurement calls, create API tokens for third-party integrations to enhance API limits, and generate credits via your adopted probes. You can then spend these credits on additional measurements when needed.
- n8n and Zapier integrations: With Globalping integrations for n8n and Zapier, you can automate your network measurements and incorporate them into your workflows with ease.
- Full IPv6 support: We fully support IPv6 in measurements and probes, including targeting IPv6-enabled hosts in measurement tests and probes running in dual-stack and IPv6-only networks.
2025 outlook: Looking forward to great things
We're already preparing for 2025 and have planned some features and improvements that will continually make Globalping better. Here's a glimpse of what you can expect:
- Improvements to performance and stability: As the platform continues to grow in user numbers and probes in the network, we'll further work on making sure that it can handle this growth with ease. This way, you can depend on Globalping to deliver fast and reliable results.
- User experience upgrades: Making sure that users have a great experience, regardless of their networking skill level, has always been a top priority for us. We plan to make our interfaces even more intuitive to make your Globalping experience smoother and more enjoyable. For example, we will mark your owned probes in API responses to make them easier to spot.
- New integrations: We'll develop more Globalping integrations for your favorite tools, such as IFTTT and Grafana.
- Time series data: One of the big milestones we plan to launch next year is time series data. This feature will let you schedule recurring tests, monitor endpoint performance over time, and create detailed charts and ratings. It will also power our CDN/DNS rankings, allowing users to track their own endpoints and compare them to public ones.
- Probe internet quality monitoring: We will develop tools for home users who host probes to track and understand their ISP's performance, providing deeper insights into their home network quality.
Thank you, and cheers!
None of this would be possible without our incredible community. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every user, contributor, and partner for your support in helping us grow and improve Globalping!
As 2025 approaches, we're excited about bringing our plans to life and continue building the best global network measurement platform we can. Let us know if you have ideas or suggestions, and join us on GitHub to help shape the future of Globalping.
